Confirmation of enrolment (CoE) to be the mandatory evidence of Intended course of study for student visa applications.

Starting January 1, 2025, anyone applying for a Student Visa (subclass 500) must include proof of their intended course of study or related activities in Australia. You must provide one or more of the following pieces of evidence with your application:

  • A valid confirmation of enrolment number for each intended course of study. This confirmation of enrolment number must not be cancelled or revoked, and it should be included in the application form.
  • In case of a:
  1. i) a Foreign Affairs student, include a letter of support from the Foreign Minister with your application; or
  2. ii) a Defence student, include a letter of support from the Defence Minister with your application; or

iii) a secondary exchange student, include an AASES form concerning your application.

  • A letter from your education provider must be attached to your application. This letter should state that your provider requires you to stay in Australia while your postgraduate thesis is being marked.
